A Great Idea For The Holidays Badly Executed

One of my clients is a retailer selling high ticket items. We were discussing the idea of sending a special Thanksgiving card to people who purchased one of their products this past year. One of the managers commented on how she had just received a similar card from her real estate agent. This discussion took place the first week of October. The agent was a bit early with the card.

Holiday promotions should be appropriately timed. This may seem obvious to many readers but watch what happens during the last week of October and first week of November. Many will be pushing Christmas promotions. There is a building negative reaction to the premature push.
