Dan Kennedy tells the story of learning a success lesson from Earl Nightingale. Earl said something to the effect of watch what everyone is doing then don’t do that. Dan has many follow stories to support the lesson that the heard is rarely right.
Most companies today have email addresses and many of the larger ones actually have people dedicated to managing email. My experience is that when I email a business, the response is either never received or the response is totally inadequate given the questions I raise. The exceptions to this are Internet Marketers with support ticket systems. Most do an excellent job.
I am a frequent traveler. You can read my rants about that at Fast Airport Travel. I recently noticed that a business discount rate I once had with Hertz all of a sudden was smaller. In the navigation bar of my on line account there is a tab for customer service. So I sent them an email suggesting my discount rate should be higher. Five (5) days later I get a response that says.
Thank you for your recent inquiry. You would need to call your local sale office to have your discount amount changed.

I sent the email so my concern would be addressed and resolved. I spend about $500 a week with Hertz so I am thinking my account would get some attention. What is a correspondent anyway and doesn’t anyone but customers use last names? This person does not leave a contact email, phone number, the “local number or contact person I should talk to, yet alone pass the information to the appropriate person and have them call me .
